Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
Greetings, grace and peace in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
In Oklahoma the year 2007 will always be remembered for its devastating ice storms and floods. Every county in our state was affected in some way, and many homes and businesses went for weeks without power and heat, including many of our churches. In our annual conference, a great number of congregations had to cancel worship services as many as five or six times over the span of the year. It was a difficult time for everyone.
Yet, out of the crisis that overwhelmed us, the true spirit of generosity was demonstrated by hundreds of congregations that paid 100% of their apportionments for 2007. Your congregation is one that stepped out in faith and overcame the obstacles to give your full share! On behalf of the Treasurer, the Council on Finance and Administration, and all the people who have been helped by your support, I say, "Thank you!" Because of your faithful stewardship in the midst of challenging circumstances, the Oklahoma Conference recorded its highest payout in history!
Enclosed with this letter is a signed "Bishop's Certificate of Appreciation," a small token to express my indebtedness for all your hard work. Our Conference is truly blessed by your congregation, which does so much for so many.
Again, thank you so much!
In His Service,
Robert E. Hayes, Jr.
