A New Covenant mission team recently went to Morogoro, Tanzania to serve with United Methodist missionaries Umba and Ngoy Kalangwa. The team, comprised of five New Covenant members and three others, worked alongside members of Kalangwa’s church to build classroom space for a school housed in the church. Some team members were also involved in teaching classes on malaria prevention and hiv/aids awareness.
The Kalangwas have been serving in Morogoro as General Board of Global Ministries missionaries for several years. Umba is the districe superintendent for the area as well as pastor for the United Methodist Church. During the weekdays the church hosts a school for area children, and plans are to expand the school each year as the children progress in their grades. Other ministries are also housed at the church.
As part of our Faith Promise giving, New Covenant has been supporting the Kalangwas for the past three years, and financially assisted team members who have gone to Tanzania.
