Living Room Spring 2012

The Spring Session Begins January 11th.

Living Room at New Covenant enables us to come together as a church family in the center of our week to make room for Christ in our lives, just as we make our own living rooms the center of our homes. Register for Living Room Activities and Classes below.

5:30 pm—community meal in the gym
6:30 pm—adult, children, and middle school activities
6:33 pm—Worship Service in the Great Hall (Ongoing, year round)
7:30 pm—high school groups and choir rehearsal

January Adult Living Room Classes:

Relax and Refocus (adults) — WILL MEET JANUARY 4TH. This Christian yoga class, led by Rebecca Overton, helps adults who are stressed, tired, and have no time for exercise. It will help men and women rejuvenate their bodies and souls through stretching, balance, prayer, Scripture, and Christian music. This is a gentle exercise class, and a mat will be required. Two classes are offered each Wednesday: a Women’s Class at 6:25 pm and a Co-ed class 7:30 pm. Room 102/3

Beth Moore’s new study, James: Mercy Triumphs (all ages, women) – Her newest study on the book of James, an 8-session series, inspires us to put our faith into action in practical ways as we get to know both the man and the Book. Room 106

Divorce Care (all ages) - This 12-week series brings together adults who are divorced or are considering it. Each week’s discussion follows a video teaching on topics such as “The Road to Healing” and “Facing my Anger.” Room 107

Men’s Fraternity, The Quest for Authentic Manhood - (all ages, men) Bill Blew leads this men’s study, which focuses on a man's core identity and gives an overview of basic manhood and various identity issues, See www.ncovenant.org/mens-fraternity-at-new-covenant for details. 6:30—8:00 pm. Room 105

“Forever. For Real” Marriage Workshop (all ages, couples) – From the Oklahoma Marriage Initiative, this is an educational workshop that  teaches skills and provides tools that can be put into practice when needed, leading to a better, long-lasting relationship. Room 101

Art for the Heart (all ages) — Join artist Beth Jackson for an hour of hands-on art that will reveal an inner heart for Christ and creativity. Room TBD

Prayfit (all ages. women) — Join women for an hour of discussion and prayer as they go through the 28-day devotional, Prayfit: Your Guide to a Healthy Body and A Stronger Faith together. Conference Room

Inductive Bible Study (all ages) — Sermon on the Mount: How Can I Be Blessed is the topic of this 11-week study of the Beatitudes. Learn that uncompromised faith and righteous living is not only rewarded in heaven but also in life. Contact Anita at 204-5763. or anitawright80@yahoo.com, 6:30-8:30 pm Room 108

Bible Study (all ages) – Join Shelley Johnson in a study of the theme of inheritance: who we are and how we live because we are God’s heirs. The study will cover the Old Testament realities of the Israel land to New Testament believers’ “fields.” Room 109

Starting Point (all ages) – STARTING FEBRUARY 9th. This New Covenant classic will take participants on a journey of faith through 12 sessions on the basics of our Christian faith: Christ, Holy Spirit, and Community. Starting Point graduates launch into the church family fortified with solid biblical truths that equip them for the journey. Room 104

Discipleship Academy (all ages) – Adrian Cole leads this in-depth study group through a discussion of Methodist history. Wrestle with Wesleyan themes and discover more about how our Methodist roots can shape our faith today. Library

Other Ages/Activities:

Children's Ministry ROCK SOLID (Wednesdays at 6:30 pm) Preschool through 5th grade participate in the ROCK SOLID series. "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock." (Matthew 7:24) We want to help kids build a strong faith foundation so that when the rains and storms of life assail them, their faith will not fall away. It will stand strong and give them strength and shelter.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (6th—8th grades) The Mix (Wednesday evenings, 6:30 pm) Students gather for a high-energy, fun, middle-school-focused program that includes games, give-aways, worship, Bible study, and small groups.

HIGH SCHOOL (9th—12th grades) Impact (Wednesday evenings, 7:30 pm) Students gather for a time of worship before splitting into small groups, called CORE. CORE groups are age and gender specific.

His Hands Prayer Ministry -- This faithful group of prayer warriors gathers at 6:30 pm in Decker Hall every Wednesday night to pray over requests, write notes of encouragement, and organize pews and attendance folders. Join in anytime!  Led by Pamela Morton, 348-3031 or pmorton@okumf.org.
