The New Covenant Disaster Response Team is a subset of the Community Care Team.
Our NC tag line is, Christ, Compassion, Community. We can spend a lot of time and money running ads telling people what our core values are, but if the community doesn't see it in action, the words are meaningless. We are called to care for the afflicted and those who are discouraged. One way we can do that is by responding to disaster victims right here in Central Oklahoma.
We have no shortage of calamities right here in our own backyard. Tornadoes, floods, wildfires, ice storms, etc are all part of the realities of living in the Sooner State.
We can visibly demonstrate the love of Christ by growing our Disaster Response Team as part of NC Men's Ministries.
A core team has already trained in several areas of secondary disaster response by authorized homeland Security personnel. We now have a utility trailer to haul supplies and for use as a base station at disaster sites. etc.
A fund raising effort will need to be coordinated with the Finance Team and donations to the effort will be accepted. This will not be a small group or limited to just men. To make it a well-oiled and trained team, at least 25 to 30 people will need to get involved in some capacity.
During those times when disasters aren't an issue, we function as a Community Care Team helping the elderly and lonely with light home repair, building wheelchair ramps and generally serving the community unconditionally. Demonstrating the love of Jesus can be a great adventure.
