Daily Reflections

January 9th - January 13th, 2012

Monday, January 9th

Matthew 28:18-20 (Amplified Bible) 18Jesus approached and, [a]breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them [b]into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you [c]all the days ([d]perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. [e]Amen (so let it be).

Tuesday, January 10th

Colossians 1:11-12 (Amplified Bible) 11[We pray] that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, [to exercise] every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy, 12Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified and made us fit to share the [a]portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God's holy people) in the Light.

Wednesday, January 11th

Romans 12:9-11 (Amplified Bible) 9[Let your] love be sincere (a real thing); hate what is evil [loathe all ungodliness, turn in horror from wickedness], but hold fast to that which is good. 10Love one another with brotherly affection [as members of one family], giving precedence and showing honor to one another. 11Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.

Thursday, January 12th

James 2:15-17 (Amplified Bible) 15If a brother or sister is poorly clad and lacks food for each day, 16And one of you says to him, Good-bye! Keep [yourself] warm and well fed, without giving him the necessities for the body, what good does that do? 17So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).

Friday, January 13th

Hebrews 12:1-2 (Amplified Bible) 1THEREFORE THEN, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us,  2Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.(A)
