Congregational Care

One of the great strengths of our New Covenant family is our care for one another. Many people of our church community made New Covenant their church home because they wanted to belong to a community that cares.

“The New Covenant community has really made an amazing impact with our family in the past few weeks. I’ve received so many cards (from people I don’t even know), phone calls and even a meal! What great people make up New Covenant!”
–Leslie Browning

Caring for our community is an essential part of our ministry. Our goal is for everyone to feel welcomed and cared for. To achieve this goal, we offer congregation care pastoral care in several ways.

Stephen Ministers

Stephen Ministers are well trained and supervised members of the congregation who provide one-to-one Christian care to hurting people in and around our church community.

The Stephen Ministry Series is a nationally recognized program that provides congregations with the structure, training, and resources to set up and administer a complete system for lay caring ministry (called Stephen Ministry) in the congregation. Congregational caregivers (called Stephen Ministers) provide one-to-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge. Stephen Ministry helps our pastors and our church community provide quality caring ministry for as long as people need it.

Stephen Ministers meet twice a month for care giving assignments, accountability, training and support.

Interested in becoming a trained Stephen Minister? This high quality program trains lay people to offer one on one care and support to the church community when someone is struggling and needs a caring friend. Training classes are offered once or twice a year for those hearing the call to our caring ministry. For more information, please contact Larry Jacobson  (562-3218).
